Frankenstein Spotted! August 29, 2008

Did you turn the corner on your way to school today only to find yourself face-to-face with Frankenstein’s creation? Graffiti, unexpected art, whatever it is, if it reminds you of Frankenstein take a picture of it/him, write down the address and any comment you would like to post with it (no comment is fine) and I’ll add it here throughout the semester.

(Above) spotted at 20 west 22nd st. in the window of the NY Coo Gallery. Sculpture by Ichiro Sato titled “Adam and Eve” .

(Above) Graffiti spotted on a wall at West 14th st. and Fifth Ave. (maybe it’s the low brow that makes me think of Frank…)

(Above) a 10 ft.  tall Frankenstein  puppet used in a protest march, in Bulgaria, against genetically modified organisms and food . On the puppet’s back is the word “Mutanto” – a play on “Monsanto. The protest took place in June ’08 . I believe the puppet is of Victor not the creature.
